With 10 years of experience teaching kiteboarding lessons at Hood River, I can tailor your kiteboarding lesson to you, focusing on the skills and techniques you need to achieve your goals. Every student arrives in Hood River with different experience and skills levels and learns to kiteboard at their own speed. Some students prefer to minimize the number of kiteboard lessons (two or three) and work out some of the critical skills on their own. Other students want to minimize the significant dangers of kiteboarding and sign up for more kiteboarding lessons (four to eight) to achieve a higher skill level. I will carefully develop a program to take advantage of the skills and experience you bring to kiteboarding and guide you to your goals at your pace. Each lesson will start with a classroom session designed to help you improve your understanding of the sport and how to avoid dangers. You will also learn about the specific exercises designed to develop critical skills that you will be working on in the water. These exercises divide the skills you will need into individual elements and allow you to learn complicated actions in small controlled steps. This careful approach allows you to stay in control throughout the lesson process.
Kiteboarding in the Hood River area and The Gorge can be intimidating for kiteboarders from light wind locations. I often introduce these visitors to the fun of kiteboarding the Hood River area safely with a single three hour Introduction to Kiteboarding at Hood River and the Gorge lesson designed for intermediate riders. High wind and big swell riding lessons are available for more advanced riders. A complete listing of the lessons offered can be seen at:
